Homing organisation or facility【動物保護団体、または動物保護施設】
An organisation and/or facility that undertakes homing and/or rehoming of cats. Sometimes referred to as ‘rescue facilities’ or ‘shelters’ ※2
猫のホーミングやリホームを行う組織や施設。「保護施設」や「シェルター」と呼ばれることもある。
（補足）野良猫に関するマニュアルのため「猫」と記述されていますが、猫に限りません。
Humane Killing【人道的殺処分】
Killing performed in a manner that minimizes animal distress, but may not meet the requirements of euthanasia due to situational constraints. ※3
動物の苦痛を最小限にするような方法で行われる殺処分。ただし、状況的な制約から安楽殺の要件を満たさない場合もある。
Humanely administered euthanasia【人道的安楽殺】
Methods of euthanasia that minimise any stress, distress, pain or other suffering to the cat in the process. A good example of humanely administered euthanasia is the appropriate use of barbiturate injections ※2
安楽殺の過程において、猫のストレス、苦痛、痛み、その他の苦痛を最小限に抑える安楽死の方法。バルビツール酸塩注射の適切な使用が、人道的安楽殺の良い例である。

the period of time from when an animal is first infected with a pathogen until clinical signs of illness first appear ※1

the number of pathogens required to cause infection and disease ※1
感染症や病気を引き起こすのに必要な病原体の数
Intake【入所】
the point of admittance of animals into the shelter ※1
シェルターに動物を受け入れる時点
（補足）アニマルシェルターの入り口から動物が入ることそのものをintakeと呼んでいるようです。
Intracardiac (IC)【心腔内投与】administered directly into the heart ※1
（補足）心臓に注射針を刺し直接薬剤を注入する方法で、ペントバルビタールナトリウムによる安楽殺の際に用いられます。
Intramuscular (IM)【筋肉内投与】administered into the muscle ※1
（補足）いわゆる筋肉注射です。
Intraperitoneal (IP)【腹腔内投与】administered into the peritoneal cavity or abdomen ※1
腹腔または腹部への投与
（補足）腹部に注射針を刺し腹腔内に薬剤を注入する方法で、ペントバルビタールナトリウムによる安楽殺の際に用いられます。
Intravenous (IV)【静脈内投与】administered into a vein ※1
（補足）いわゆる静脈注射です。
Inventory【収容数(調査)】
number of animals in the shelter’s care; census ※1
シェルターで飼育されている動物の数、その調査
Isolation【隔離(室)】
a physically separate area of the shelter used to house and treat sick animals ※1
病気の動物を収容して治療するためのシェルター内の物理的に独立したエリア
