（補足）獣医療においては人用の医薬品を犬猫に使ったり、犬用の医薬品を猫に使ったりということが日常的に行われています。しかし特に猫は薬物代謝機構が大きく異なるため、人や犬に使える医薬品が使えなかったりします。

Pariah dog【野良犬】
Pariah dogs do not have a dedicated owner, although they utilize mostly human resources (especially for food and shelter). ※4
野良犬は主に人的資源（特に食料やねぐら）を利用しているが、特定の飼い主はいない。
（補足）village dogともいう。人間に依存していない、いわゆるノイヌはferal dog。
Pathogen【病原体】
a biological agent that may cause disease or illness in an animal ※1
動物に病気を引き起こす可能性のある生命体
Poikilotherm【変温動物】
An animal with a variable internal temperature. These animals are generally ectothermic. ※3
体内温度が変化する動物。これらの動物は一般に外温性である。
Primary enclosure【一次囲い(外囲い)】
a restricted area designed to confine an animal such as a cage, run, kennel, stall, or pen. In most sheltering situations, this is where an animal eats, sleeps, and spends the majority of its time ※1
ケージ、ラン、ケネル、ストール、ペンなど、動物を収容するために設計された制限区域。ほとんどのシェルターでは、動物が食事をしたり、眠ったり、大部分の時間を過ごす場所。
