一斉手術における麻酔器の取扱い
The anesthesia equipment used in spay-neuter programs is generally the same as that used in any veterinary practice setting. However, when equipment is used in a high-volume setting, special consideration should be given to its use and maintenance to enhance patient safety.
避妊去勢プログラムで使用される麻酔器は、一般的に他の動物病院で使用されているものと同じである。ただし多数の手術を行う場合には、患者の安全性を高めるために、機器の使用とメンテナンスに特別な配慮をするべきである。(p170L)
As in any surgical setting, all anesthesia equipment including endotracheal tubes, laryngoscopes, anesthesia machines, and monitors should be prepared and checked daily prior to use.
他の手術現場と同様に、気管内チューブ、喉頭鏡、麻酔器、モニターを含むすべての麻酔関連の機器は、使用前に準備し、毎日チェックすべきである。(p170L)
Anesthesia equipment in high-volume programs undergoes a high level of use, often by multiple personnel; therefore, all programs should develop and implement a regular maintenance schedule for equipment.
多数の手術を行うプログラムの麻酔器は、複数の担当者によって高頻度で使用されることが多い；したがって、すべてのプログラムは、機器の定期的なメンテナンス予定を作成し、実施すべきである。(p170L-171R)
The frequency of maintenance service should be commensurate with the level of use (ie, heavily used equipment in high-volume programs should be serviced more frequently).
メンテナンスの頻度は、使用レベルに見合ったものとすべきである（すなわち、多数の手術を行うプログラムで使用頻度の高い機器は、より頻繁にメンテナンスされるべきである）。(p170R)
【のらぬこの解説】
避妊去勢プログラム（つまり、動物の一斉避妊去勢手術）で用いられる麻酔器は、一般の動物病院で用いられているものと基本的に同じです。しかし使用方法はかなり異なります。1～数名の特定の獣医師が1日数件の手術を行う一般の動物病院と異なり、避妊去勢プログラムでは多くの獣医師が関わり、麻酔器1台につき1日に数十件の手術を行います。また仮設の手術室で実施するMASHのように、麻酔器を持ち運ぶことも珍しくありません。要するに麻酔器の使い方が「荒い」のです。それだけに、麻酔器の点検やメンテナンスはそれなりの頻度で実施する必要があります。
